I have a universal standing strategy for studying. Just like everyone else if I’m in class, i will pay attention to what the teacher is saying. If it’s a reading material I will try to understand the main concept of it and try to annotate it. IF the reading material or assigned film are extremely challenging, I will read or watch it over and over again until I understand it. Personally, I’m a music fan. I do play guitar in my own time. When i try to learn a new song, i will go on YouTube and find tutoring video. I found it extremely helpful, because not only its free but also, I have a lot of video option.
However, During Mr. Chew video, she mentioned a couple of study misconceptions that most students have. He first mentioned that most students don’t realize how much time and effort they need to put in in order to finish a work that meets the professors’ requirements. College is not easy and most students use “A is just not my thing.” Mr. Chew, on the other hand, believes that success comes with hard work and time. Most importantly, most freshmen are overconfident in how well they understand the material. A student with poor metacognition has often thought they fully understand the material but ends up getting a bad grade. It’s important for first-year students to transfer their sense of metacognition from high school level to college level, and knowing the fact that its necessary to commit time and efforts to it.
