Pg. 8

  1. High school education is easier than a college education. Without a doubt right now, we think college is harder and more challenging compared to high school courses because we already went through it. However, for a high school freshman, they definably are finding hs is hard because they just start it. Overall high school focus on fundamentals. In contrast, college focused more on advanced studies.
  2. It’s different. I didn’t have to put a lot of work in and still ends up getting a decent grade. Here in college, you have to spend a lot of time.

I think most high school graduates don’t know those difficulty they going to face in college. When we were in elementary school, we been told that middle school is hard. When we were middle, we been told that high school is hard. Same thing appeared in high school senior year. However, most people find that high and middle are not as difficult as they thought its going to be, and that lead them to think that college is going to be the same case. What I found its interesting in this paragraph are when author mentioned 92% of survey participants said they graduate with A or B average with an average 6 hours of studying each week. 72.6 believe that their academic ability is above average. Good grades, less study hour, “great academic ability” may lead to wrong sense of metacognition which can make first-year college student think “ I got it” but actually they don’t.
