Sports And Politics 2

All three articles that I have read for todays assignments are directly addressing the issue that Americas are facing since the beginning. There are many words that can frame this issue and a lot of them you may have heard of. For instance, White supremacism, racial discrimination or simply just racialism. Both Karl Anthony-towns and Colin Kaepernick has spoken out what they think is right and wrong in their articles and interviews. Both are coming from a minority family and success at what they do. Unlike others they could not stand recent government institution’s racial action against their own community. Furthermore, The president of this free nation did not denounce recent police violence against African Americans instead “he refuse to stand up what is right.”(4 towns) They take actions, they want to do something that can benefit their family friends, and they want to prevent this from happening to the future of the community.

Coming from the professional athletics perspective, I totally understand where they are coming from. If I’m in Carl Anthony-Towns shoes I will do the same thing. With his popularity, access, and platform, I believe a lot of people will do what they think is right. Especially when the wrong thing is happening at your back yard against your own people. Moreover, I also agree with Clay Ingram’s idea which are professional athletic should stick to what they do therefor they can provide a positive, non-political, family friendly game atmosphere. Coming from a common sports fans perspective, I do not want to see any politics relate action appear in sports game. I don’t want to see a Laker player announce any anti-China statement during pregame interview or put anything political on their shirt. Since today’s world many things has globalized and even for elite leagues like NFL NBA and NHL, their fan base are not just in the us. They are from many different nations with various culture, politic, ethnicity background. Despite the most brain burning question what is right or wrong, publishing any statement from one side may harm peoples who stand different believes. It will get worse when it comes to politics. There for its not fair for a sports lover like me and Clay Travis and others who stood different believe. However, racism, in the other hand, its one issue that we must address. Its a problem for all race, but directly disrespect you own nation in public as a celebrity it’s not the right move for current stage. We in the stage of reform not revolution. In my opinion, celebrities should address the issue or spread their believe to public not in the name of their institution but in their own name and execute it at off work time. Use their influence to spread carefully thought, educated, and evidence bases statement without anger or any negative emotion.
